  About Jack Peterson

There were three rail line accesses to Duluth, MN from Superior, WI. over the St. Louis Bay.  The Interstate bridge rail access was removed when the Blatnik Bridge was constructed.  The Wisconsin Draw/Minnesota Draw Bridges were removed after the BN Railroad was formed.  The Wisconsin Draw/Minnesota Draw Bridges were removed because two sets of bridge operators were needed verses only one set  was needed to operate the Grassy Point Draw Bridge.  Current traffic uses the Grassy Point Draw Bridge.    I took the following pictures in the 70's and early 80's.  There is one additional rail/auto bridge at Oliver Wisconsin that crosses the St. Louis River.

You can see what's left of the Interstate Bridge just past the left pier of the Blatnik Bridge.
